Fear always has been a mobilizing social force, this is particularly evident nowadays. We are bombarded with news and reports that trigger feelings of insecurity in us. These messages are not always based on true facts.
With clearly recognizable dangers and usually a pedagogically valuable conclusion, folk tales have always supported social cohesion.
Today "New Tales" or "Fake News" use fear and fantasy to gain social influence through division and polarization. Fear spreads like a virus.
Are we able to objectively confront our fears with facts and thus relativize dangers? Can we put social values and morals before our feelings of fear? Do we allow the "game" with fear to influence our behaviour and thereby transform ourselves into the "Big Bad Wolf"?
"Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" is supported by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, the City of Hannover / Kulturbüro, the Braunschweigische Stiftung and supported by the Landesverband Freier Theater in Niedersachsen e.V. and the Theater Lindenhof.
