Children of the Poppy Fields
Dreams and utopias have always driven the world forward, especially in times of upheaval. After World War II, a series of groundbreaking humanitarian achievements emerged. Today, we are experiencing dramatic setbacks on many levels, a frightening dehumanization, and discourses shaped by hate.

In this production, Tiago Manquinho, together with the Lüneburg dance ensemble, attempts to find a strong sense of togetherness. Just as fundamental values blossomed from the horrors of the first half of the 20th century, today we are searching for new, urgently needed dreams. Let us imagine that the youth, emerging from the blood-soaked poppy fields of war, are shaping their own future, into a future worth living for.
“Jeder tanzt und kämpft hier für sich allein. Manquinho fordert die zehn Tänzerinnen und Tänzer enorm. (…) Das ist fett, aber kommt doch nicht pathetisch daher.” LANDESZEITUNG
